CLASSIFICATION OF SCHOOL COMPLEXES WITH BOARDING FACILITIES: STRUCTURE AND PECULIARITIES

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of the article is justification and development of the classification of school complexes with boarding facilities in the context of current challenges in Ukraine's education system. Methods. The study employs a comprehensive approach, which includes spatial, socio-economic, and typological analysis. The spatial analysis takes into account the relative location of school complexes and boarding facilities, as well as their accessibility. The socioeconomic analysis focuses on studying the demographic characteristics of regions and the specifics of the target audience. The typological analysis ensures the systematization of architectural-planning, functional, and volumetric-spatial models of school complexes and boarding facilities. Results. Based on the analysis of the current legislation of Ukraine and international experience in the design and construction of educational facilities, the key features and factors influencing the formation of the architectural and planning organization of school complexes with boarding facilities have been identified. The classification is structured as a system of interrelated factors that differentiate the architectural and spatial solution or the type of complex, such as ownership type, level and type of education, etc. To develop this classification, global experience in designing school complexes with boarding facilities, as well as standalone boarding houses, has been analyzed to further develop recommendations for the design of school boarding houses. Conclusions. The identification of socio-economic, organizational, architectural-planning, and functional features of school complexes with boarding facilities has enabled the development of a new classification of this type of institution. This classification is based on an analysis of Ukraine’s regulatory framework, the needs of the education system, as well as international and domestic experience in design and construction. The obtained results contribute to the further development of the architectural and planning organization of school boarding houses, which is an urgent necessity in response to modern innovative requirements in the education system.
