Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this article is to substantiate the concept of teaching the fundamental discipline «Colour Science», which consists of an integrative approach to solving professional problems and the use of web resources in the educational process of artists and designers. Methods. The research methods chosen were the method of innovative search, system-structural, competence-based, praxeological methods, and method of critical content analysis, which enabled the development and implementation of the author’s thematic site. Results. We considered the need for the formation of a learning and teaching strategy – the theory and practice of colour – through visual sources. The site demonstrates innovation and interdisciplinary, combining psychology of colour, history of art, design and advertising, aesthetics, colourimetry, and computer graphics, and serves as a reliable educational and methodical source for full-time and part-time students. An encyclopedic glossary ensures mastery of professional terminology. Conclusions. The end of the pedagogical experiment was a real product in the form of author’s thematic web site on colouristics (2006–2022), and from 2023 – a full-fledged online platform, which is still in the stage of filling and will serve as a useful educational and methodological base. This is evidenced by the positive reviews of students and teachers of art higher education institutions in Ukraine. The author emphasizes that it makes strategic sense to make all educational processes hybrid (blended): in fact, art education can have a correspondence form of education with consultations and control measures during the sessions, as it is impossible and impractical to completely move this profession into distance learning.
