Peer-review process
Collection of Scholarly Works “Ukrainian Academy of Art” applies a double-blind peer review system.
Only manuscripts formatted in accordance with the requirements established by the Editorial Board are admitted for review. Submissions are initially screened by the Editor-in-Chief and members of the Editorial Board for compliance with the requirements and may be returned for revision or rejected in cases of substantial non-compliance with the journal’s editorial policy, ethical standards, or manuscript requirements. Authors are informed about receipt, return, or rejection of manuscripts via email.
The initial screening of a manuscript is carried out within 15 days.
If any issues are identified at this stage, the manuscript may be returned to the author for revision.
If the manuscript meets all requirements, it is forwarded to an editor for further processing. The editor assigns a registration code to the manuscript and removes all information identifying the author(s) (manuscript anonymization).
The anonymized manuscript is then sent to reviewers.
Reviewers are scholars holding an academic degree, conducting research in the relevant field, and having at least three publications (as author or co-author) in scholarly journals included in Category A and/or Category B of the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine and/or in foreign WoS/Scopus journals published within the last five years.
Reviewers who receive anonymized manuscripts complete a standard evaluation form and provide one of the following recommendations: “approved for publication,” “revise and resubmit,” or “reject.”
The peer review process takes between 2 and 7 weeks.
In the case of rejection or the need for revision, the reviewer must provide a written, reasoned justification for their decision. Reviews are submitted to the editorial office.
The final decision on publication is made at a meeting of the Editorial Board, consisting of the Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, and Executive Secretary, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations.
Further processing of accepted manuscripts is carried out by the editorial office in accordance with the established workflow.
The editorial decision is communicated to the author(s). Manuscripts requiring revision are returned to the authors along with the review involving specific recommendations. Reviewer anonymity is strictly maintained.
Revised manuscripts may be submitted for a re-evaluation. If the manuscript receives a negative evaluation again, it is rejected and will not be considered further.
The timeframe for re-review is up to 7 days.
Authors have the right to challenge a decision within 10 days. Appeals are reviewed by an independent member of the Editorial Board.
The editorial office does not enter into correspondence regarding rejected manuscripts.
Reviews for each manuscript are retained by the editorial office for three years from the publication date of the issue in which the reviewed article appears.
All manuscripts are checked for originality using StrikePlagiarism.com.
