Abstract

Purpose of the study. The article explores the specifics of the activities of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture as a traditional and historical cultural environment, which combines educational, scientific and educational, artistic, and from 2025 also cultural, specifically museum activities. It is emphasized that by combining all types of fine arts – painting, sculpture, graphics and architecture, the academy comprehensively contributes to the creative self-determination and self-expression of artists-teachers, student youth. It was revealed that at numerous various events – collective and personal exhibitions, creative competitions, professional master classes, which are a presentation of the results of the creative work of artists, the high potential of modern Ukrainian fine arts is realized, the basic foundation of which is the unique creative heritage of past decades, concentrated in the collections of works of art of teachers and students of higher education institutions, collected in the NAFAA Museum. The methodology of the study of NAFAA as a fundamental educational and cultural and artistic institution of higher education consists in the application of a complex of scientific methods of art history, cultural studies, and museology; the dialectical method was used to analyze the confrontation and unity of artistic traditions of professional education (historical formation of the academic system) and modern innovations (digitalization technologies, media art); the systemic method was used to identify the specifics of NAFAA not only as an institution of higher education, but also as a structure endowed with the ideas of a holistic theory of creative practice, which objectively affects artistic processes in Ukraine and represents a specific segment in state cultural policy; using stylistic and formal methods, the properties of the creative work of NAFAA teachers and graduates were traced in modern conditions of the transformation of "academicism" towards digitalization, the adaptation of historically formed artistic styles in the context of the latest artistic practices; The institutional method clarified the role of NAFAA as a leading multifunctional platform that determines the vectors of development of the professional artistic community. The scientific novelty lies in the analysis of the activities of NAFAA as a leading multifunctional educational and cultural and artistic institution of higher education, which to a large extent shapes the modern cultural and artistic space of Ukraine. The study summarizes the interaction of the traditions of the academic system of professional education with new digital technologies, modern artistic practices as a specific artistic space, important for the artistic process of Ukraine, namely, in terms of creating conditions for self-expression of creative individuality, creative personality, and national identity. Conclusions. NAFAA as a fundamental educational institution of higher education forms a creative cultural and artistic space, transforming the artistic environment into an active potential for development, professional communication and self-representation of artists, restorers, architects, art historians through the implementation of educational and artistic initiatives related to the study and preservation of the artistic heritage of the NAFAA Museum. The Academy forms the cultural identity of artists, their spiritual values, integrating Ukrainian art into public life as a meaningful and transformed at the modern stage creative work of predecessors as a continuation of the traditions of Ukrainian academism and other well-known stylistic trends. This idea plays an important role in the formation of the cultural and artistic environment of the country, contributing to the expansion of the educational and artistic experience of professional communication and cooperation of students, artists, and their self-expression in various types of fine arts and architecture.
