Abstract. The aim of the article is to explore the role and significance of rural motifs in contemporary visual art of Ukraine amid global urbanization, as well as to analyze the influence of Ukrainian village traditions on the formation of national identity and cultural discourse in Ukraine. Research Methods. The study employs general scientific, historical, and empirical methods, including historical-chronological and terminological analysis, description and observation, as well as an analysis of artistic-compositional and stylistic features of artworks. Results. The article demonstrates that at a time when Ukrainian identity is being undermined by rapid urbanization, war conditions, and the threat of cultural heritage destruction, artists strive to preserve national symbols by turning to the image of the village in visual arts. The works of leading Ukrainian artists, such as Ivan Marchuk, Anatoliy Kryvolap, and Artem Rohovyi, are examined. These artists combine traditional rural motifs with innovative techniques and contemporary artistic vision. Conclusions. Based on the analysis of scholarly research, Ukrainian art studies, and visual art analysis, it has been established that the rural landscape in contemporary art serves as a means of reflecting historical memory, protesting against urban oversaturation, and artistically interpreting the socio-cultural situation. The article reveals the interconnection between traditional culture and modern artistic trends, emphasizing the significance of rural themes as a symbol of spiritual heritage, psychological comfort, and national resistance during times of global change. The research findings indicate that rural motifs remain an important tool of artistic expression and a means of intergenerational communication. They not only preserve the past but also help discover new meanings in contemporary art, shaping a unique Ukrainian style that blends tradition and innovation.
