METAMODERNISM IN ARCHITECTURE

Abstract

The article considers metamodernism as a contemporary trend in art that has developed in the context of postmodernism as the dominant stage of cultural development and is directly related to it. Architecture in the context of metamodernism remains insufficiently researched, but given current trends in the architectural environment, it is possible to trace its reflection both in practice and in theoretical principles. The purpose of this article is to study the influence of the cultural paradigm of metamodernism on architecture as the leading trend of post-postmodernism. The study aims to establish links between the key ideas of modernism and postmodernism in architecture, as the most influential previous trends, with metamodernist concepts in art. The research methods are based on the principles and theories outlined in the works of metamodernism researchers published over the past decades. The article analyzes the tools of metamodernism used in art, along with theoretical and practical manifestations in architecture that correspond to the ideas of the movement as formed in studies on metamodernism. The result is the objectification of metamodernism in architecture as a phenomenon that directly influences contemporary art, in particular through the definition of the scope and specifics of its influence. The conclusion is to highlight and explain the manifestations of metamodernism by comparing them with well-known phenomena and trends in architecture, as well as to generalize contemporary architectural trends in the context of metamoderni sm as a leading cultural paradigm.
