Abstract

The purpose of the article is to investigate the features of urban space formation in the process of integrating physical culture and sports complexes into the structure of residential areas. Research methods are based on a comparative analysis of implemented European sports complexes, a system‑functional analysis of spatial solutions, and the generalization of contemporary scientific approaches to urban environment formation. The results of the study consist in identifying and systematizing the main spatial models of urban space formation in the context of sports infrastructure integration, namely vertical, landscape, and campus models. It has been established that physical culture and sports complexes can function as active elements of the urban structure, shaping public spaces and influencing the spatial organization of residential areas. Conclusions. The conducted research confirms that the integration of physical culture and sports complexes into the urban environment contributes to increased spatial connectivity, social activity, and overall quality of urban spaces. The identified formation models may be used as a theoretical and practical basis for architectural and urban pla nning design in contemporary residential areas.
